Dairy processor HP Hood will begin a $120 million expansion at its plant in Batavia, N.Y., after formally submitting the proposal on Sept. 7 to the Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC) board meeting, according to a release from the GCEDC.
A new 32,500-square-foot building, new batching and processing systems, and other upgrades will allow HP Hood to increase capacity and begin production for extended-shelf-life beverages, according to a local news report. It will create 48 new full-time positions. Construction is anticipated to be completed in the first quarter of 2025.
Genesee County and Empire State Development have lent financial assistance in the form of tax credits to the project. Massachusetts-based HP Hood operates five production facilities in the state of New York.
