Weaver Popcorn Expanding in Van Buren, Indiana

With a new private equity owner, the 96-year-old company will spend $22 million in its hometown.

Flush with cash from its new private equity owner, Weaver Popcorn will spend more than $22 million to expand one of its hometown Van Buren, Ind., operations.

Several media report the expansion will include new production lines, packaging lines and other food processing technologies. The Van Buren campus has two manufacturing plants and a corn processing facility that altogether have received more than $16 million dollars in upgrades in the past two years, according to Inside Indiana Business.

The company was acquired by AUA Private Equity Partners in January. In March, Weaver Popcorn Hybrids announced plans to invest $15 million to develop a new campus in Crawfordsville, Ind., and create up to 14 jobs.
