Abilene, Texas-Based AbiMar Foods to Invest in Bakery Upgrades, Expansion

Subsidiary of South American Grupo Nutresa will spend $4.6 million on its three Abilene facilities to improve automation and make upgrades.

AbiMar Foods, a subsidiary of Grupo Nutresa that produces cookie and cracker baked goods, will invest $4.6 million to expand its Abilene, Texas, operations, according to a release from the Development Corporation of Abilene (DCOA). AbiMar was established in Abilene in 1992.

The project will encompass work at all three AbiMar facilities in Abilene to improve automation, upgrade production equipment and software systems, and increase efficiency, worker safety, scalability, and product consistency and quality. In addition, the company’s offices and employee well-being areas at the north plant will undergo renovations.

AbiMar was previously known as Fehr Foods Inc. and was acquired by South American food company Grupo Nutresa in October 2010.
