King’s Hawaiian Parent Doubles Down on Taylorsville, Indiana, New Facility Site

June 14, 2024
Irresistible Foods announces plans to build a second production facility on the same site as a planned 368,000-sq.-ft. new plant — even though construction has yet to start on the first plant.

Irresistible Foods, the parent company of the King’s Hawaiian brand, will invest an additional $54 million to build a second facility on the site of its proposed new manufacturing plant outside Taylorsville, Ind., according to local news reports.

Construction has yet to start on the first new facility, which was announced in December 2023, but Irresistible Foods already needs more capacity beyond the 368,000 sq. ft. that first plant would provide. The local county council approved two 10-year tax abatement requests for the expansion, which is expected to add 150 more jobs by 2027 (bringing the total number of jobs created at the site to about 300).

No start date had been shared as to when construction on either facility would begin, but it sounded as though the company was waiting on infrastructure improvements to roads and rail around the facility to be completed first.
