Mizkan America Announces Expansion of Owensboro, Kentucky, Processing Plant
Mizkan America, producer of pasta sauce and vinegar products, announced it will expand its facility in Owensboro, Ky., investing $156 million to add about 320,000 sq. ft. — bringing the plant’s total footprint to more than 970,000 sq. ft.
The expansion is expected to create 44 jobs, and Mizkan anticipates filling the additional space with new machinery and equipment, IT upgrades and related building improvements and assets, a release from the office of Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear noted.
The project currently is in the design phase, and Mizkan America Inc. CEO Koichi Yuki said it was expected to move to board approval early next year. Mizkan America Inc. operates out of Mount Prospect, Ill., and is a division of Handa City, Japan-based Mizkan Group, an international food manufacturer privately owned and operated by the eight and ninth generations of the founding Nakano family.
Mizkan America operates 12 manufacturing facilities serving retail, foodservice, specialty Asian and food ingredient trade channels. Its brands include Ragú, Bertolli, Holland House, Nakano and Mizkan. Mizkan America is also the exclusive distributor for Angostura Bitters in North America.
