Shamrock Farms to Expand Verona, Virginia, Milk Processing Facility
Dairy processor Shamrock Farms has announced a major expansion of its Verona, Va., milk processing facility in celebration of the plant’s 10th anniversary, according to a release from the company. This will be the second expansion of the plant in its 10 years of operation.
Shamrock Farms will invest $59 million to add equipment, cold-storage space and a new production filling line. It will receive various grants from the local government and development groups totaling $900,000. The expansion is expected to be completed by 2028, the release noted.
The facility helps the company provide Shamrock Farms ready-to-drink milk products and Rockin’ Protein protein shakes across all 50 states in more than 135,000 retailers and quick-service restaurants, and its expansion comes in response to increased demand, the company noted. Shamrock Farms, which is a division of Shamrock Foods Co., was founded in 1922 and has facilities in Virginia as well as Arizona.
“By continuing to evolve our product lines, facilities and technology, we're laying the groundwork for future success and our ability to serve quality products Shamrock customers know and love,” said Devon McClelland, president of Shamrock Farms and fourth generation of McClelland family leadership, in the announcement.
