Baxter’s Bakery Plans Significant Expansion of Cobourg, Ontario, Facility
Canadian wholesale baker Baxter’s Bakery will invest nearly $3.5 million CAD (nearly $2.5 million U.S.) in its Cobourg, Ontario, manufacturing facility, according to local news reports.
The expansion project is expected to create 54 new jobs and will include new processing and packaging equipment that will increase production capacity and take advantage of advancements in automation. The company will receive nearly $500,000 CAD from the regional development group as well.
“Since we began our journey in Cobourg in 2020, we have invested close to $5,000,000 [CAD] to grow our business and support our exporting plans,” David Baxter, president, Baxter’s Bakery (Cobourg) Inc., told the local news outlet. “With this new investment, we are enhancing staff well-being with new ergonomic equipment and streamlined workflows to reduce strain and inefficiencies.”
