Crown Bakeries Commits to New Bun Production Line in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin

April 8, 2025
When fully operational by the end of the year, the new bun production line will be capable of producing as many as 2.3 million buns per day for the bakery.

Nashville, Tenn.-based baker Crown Bakeries will expand its Pleasant Prairie, Wis., facility, adding a new, high-speed bun production line to boost capabilities and capacity there. Crown, which manufactures fresh and frozen croissants, buns, bagels, biscuits, sweet goods, and dough products in nine different facilities across the country, expects the expansion to be fully operational by November 2025.

The project will significantly increase the company’s bun production volume, with the new line capable of producing as many as 2.3 million buns per day. The line has been designed to maximize flexibility, with the ability to accommodate multiple packaging formats and specific needs of Crown’s customers in foodservice, industrial and retail channels.

The Pleasant Prairie expansion is the latest in a series of investments in Crown’s facilities, following upgrades to its Philadelphia, Pa., Lawrence, Mass., Nashville, Tenn., and Smyrna, Ga., plants. The company was originally founded as a high-speed bun producer in Dickson, Tenn., and it has continued to grow its capabilities and manufacturing footprint through private-equity firm Arbor Investments.
