Danone U.S. Announces Multimillion-Dollar Expansion in Minster, Ohio

Capital investment into Minster yogurt plant will add production capacity in response to growing demand for yogurt products in the U.S.

Danone U.S., a division of Danone North America, will expand its Minster, Ohio, yogurt plant, making an undisclosed, multimillion-dollar investment to add about 48,000 sq. ft. and a new production line, and to upgrade existing lines.

The Minster facility produces Oikos, Activia, Dannon and Danimals products, and this expansion is expected to add 30 full-time jobs to the facility.

The project adds production capacity, attempting to address what the Danone U.S. announcement called “explosive growth driven by consumers seeking more nutrient-dense foods that are high in protein and rich in nutrients and probiotic benefits.”

The company noted it would also purchase 60% more milk for the Minster yogurt plant over the next couple of years to help supply the increased output. Danone will work with current producers to increase their production and also will onboard new local farms across the U.S.

Lindsey Lee, senior director, Family & Kids Yogurt at Danone North America, discussed the trends driving this growth, particularly in the kids yogurt market, on our Food For Thought podcast in July.

The planned investment in Minster, Ohio, comes a couple months after the opening of Danone’s $65 million expansion to its Jacksonville, Fla., coffee and creamers facility, opened in June 2025.
