Stacy Dean Nominated as USDA Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack has nominated Stacy Dean to serve as USDA's Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services (FNCS).

Dean joined USDA in January 2021 as Deputy Under Secretary for FNCS, at the time being called a nutrition policy expert. Before joining USDA, she was Vice President for Food Assistance Policy at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities in Washington. She directed the Center’s food assistance team, which publishes reports on how federal nutrition programs affect families and communities and develops policies to improve them.

Dean joined the Center in 1997 after being a budget analyst at the Office of Management and Budget, where she worked on policy development, regulatory and legislative review, and budgetary process and execution for a variety of income support programs.
