FDA Holding an Allergen Labeling Webinar Dec. 18

Nov. 27, 2024
Although relevant to the entire food & beverage industry, it will have emphasis on retail food stores and foodservice establishments.

The FDA will host an educational webinar for the food & beverage industry, with some emphasis on retail food stores and foodservice establishments, at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, to provide an overview of food labeling and food allergen labeling requirements and compliance.

The FDA’s food labeling and food allergen labeling requirements apply to all packaged foods regulated by FDA, including foods packaged by retail food stores and foodservice. To assist industry with these requirements, the FDA has issued several guidances including "Questions and Answers Regarding Food Allergen Labeling Guidance" and "Major Food Allergen Labeling and Cross-contact Draft Compliance Policy Guide."

Labeling errors associated with undeclared allergens are one of the leading causes of food recalls in the U.S. “This webinar is intended to help industry better understand and comply with these requirements,” the agency said.
