California Natural Products enjoys Sweet Success -- and vice versa

Oct 14, 2005

Sweet Success Enterprises Inc. announced Oct. 14 that it has signed an agreement with Lathrop, Calif.-based California Natural Products (CNP) as the Company's new co-packer. Sweet Success has also ended the co-packing agreement it had with Kiko Foods.

Under the new agreement, CNP will package and prepare the Company's line of all-natural beverages for retail distribution. CNP ( has aseptic co-packing facilities at its California headquarters and in Savannah, Ga. All production is done under kosher conditions. The new arrangement is expected to support the Company's expanded rollout of its product lines.

"California Natural Products is excited about the opportunity to work directly with Sweet Success on their current products and the launch of several of their new product lines," said CNP owner Pat Mitchell.

Through its arrangement with CNP, and with its plans to acquire new ingredients, Sweet Success expects to reduce total production costs by 25 percent, according to a press release.

"The talent apparent with everyone at California Natural Products, and the world-class facilities they provide, makes our alliance with them an ideal strategic fit," said Bill Gallagher, chairman and CEO of Sweet Success Enterprises Inc. "Their dedication to nutritional products and expertise with cutting-edge all-natural ingredients makes the new agreement all the more exciting for us. They have a long history working with the ingredients we plan to feature in some of our upcoming healthy functional beverages."

The Company has a modest production run scheduled for later this month at CNP's Savannah facilities to introduce a new flavor and pack an introductory quantity of its berry juice-based antioxidant Complete Fuel to begin the expansion of the product line.

San Antonio-based Sweet Success Enterprises Inc. acquired the Sweet Success brand and all properties associated with it in 2002. Its new Sweet Success Complete Fuel — which is formulated to promote endurance, heart health and energy — is available now in a limited number of stores. Additional products are expected to be introduced over the next few months.
