IBIE Launching Initiative to Recognize Industry Suppliers For Sustainability Best Practices

B.E.S.T. in Baking program to recognize environmental advances by industry suppliers

The International Baking Industry Exposition has identified sustainability as one of the industry's top priorities. As such, the IBIE committee is launching an initiative to recognize suppliers that foster energy conservation, reduced water usage, a decrease in landfill waste, healthy living and/ or a reduction of the overall impact on the environment. The B.E.S.T. (Becoming Environmentally Sustainable Together) in Baking program will evaluate and acknowledge, both in pre-show promotions and onsite, companies who have made a commitment to sustainability through innovative products, services, technologies and programs.

Suppliers will participate in the program by filling out an entry form consisting of open-ended questions regarding how their entries are helping the baking industry become more environmentally sustainable. A panel of expert judges, consisting of experts in sustainability and/or baking best practices, will evaluate the environmental impact, feasibility, return on investment, innovation and practical application to the baking industry of each submission.
