Gluten-Free Manufacturer Schar Breaks Ground on U.S. Facility

New food processing plant will be located in New Jersey and will be dedicated to gluten-free products.

Schar USA, subsidiary of Italian firm Dr. Schär Srl, broke ground in January for its first U.S. manufacturing facility, near its Lyndhurst, N.J., U.S. headquarters.

The 50,000-sq.-ft. facility, costing $15 million, will will create 51 new jobs when it begins production in early 2012. As with all of Schar’s facilities, the plant will be dedicated to gluten-free products: baked goods, pasta, mixes and coatings.
