TreeHouse COO Quits After Three Months

Nov. 4, 2016
Christopher Sliva is replaced temporarily by Dennis Riordan, who wants to retire.

After only about three months as president/COO of private labeler TreeHouse Foods Inc., Christopher Sliva resigned and was replaced temporarily by Dennis Riordan, executive vice president and chief financial officer, who in August announced his intentions to retire. Riordan said he will stay on while the company conducts a search for a new president.

Sliva had been with the company four years, having left an executive post at Dean Foods. The company announcement politely thanked him for his service, noting he is leaving "to pursue another career opportunity." A few days later, that opportunity turned out to be the presidency of AdvancePierre Foods and the apparent CEO when the current one, John Simons, retires next March.

Riordan has been with TreeHouse since shortly after its formation in 2005. Separately, TreeHouse announced his replacement: Matthew Foulston as EVP and CFO. He was CFO of Compass Minerals International.

Riordan will have oversight of both of the operating companies, Bay Valley Foods and TreeHouse Private Brands.
