Post Considers Separating Private Label Businesses

Post Holdings apparently is considering a spinoff of its private label business by filing a draft registration with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

The private label businesses had sales of $791 million and net earnings of $43 million for the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, the newspaper reported. The units include Golden Boy, which makes private label peanut butter and nut products, pasta maker Dakota Growers and Attune Foods, which makes granola, cereals and snacks.

The potential price range of new stock and number of shares that would be put up for sale were not disclosed. And the company said it is looking at other options, which include a placement of private equity, a sale of the business or a strategic combination, the company said.

Formerly operating separately, the businesses were combined under Jim Dwyer in January.

Post recently completed the acquisition of Bob Evans Farms.
