The popularity of Cinnamon Toast Crunch is effecting an expansion at a General Mills plant in Covington, Ga.

Big G would not divulge the cost, but one of its media relations people called it "one of the largest capital projects in General Mills history." It will create 40 jobs on top of the roughly 400 who work there. The plant makes several varieties of cereal and snack products, in addition to Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

Last month, General Mills said it will spend $37 million to improve its Cedar Rapids, Iowa, facility, which makes cereal, frosting and dried fruit snacks. That project will involve modernizing an existing line with new, more efficient machinery and equipment to increase production capacity. It should create 50 jobs.
