For Whom the Ad Trolls: Philadelphia Cream Cheese Introduces the Philly Series 5

Nov. 24, 2020
Enjoying a little holiday humor, the Philly Series 5 is a fun take on the PS5, which is set to be one of 2020's most popular holiday gifts.

Dubbed the "hottest gift of the holiday season," Philadelphia Cream Cheese's Philly Series 5 is powered by five bricks of cream cheese, ultra HD white chocolate, and 3D cookiecrumb technology. In fact, sources say the Philly Series 5 is a once in a generation cheesecake kit. For the low price of $4.99, consumers can get their hands on the "immersive cheesecake kit that utilizes the latest in baking technology to create a stunning, next-generation shaped cheesecake."

No, your eyes aren't playing tricks on you. The team at Philadelphia Cream cheese is having some fun at the expense of the PS5 console, which is set to be one of the most popular holiday gifts this season.

"The Philly Series 5 is our way of moving at the speed of innovation, and bringing consumers the most delicious gift of the holiday season," says Basak Oguz, marketing director at Philadelphia Cream Cheese in a recent article on Ad Age.

The website and advertising for the Philly Series 5 are careful to remind any and all viewers that the product is not, in fact, a game console. It is, however, an actual product that consumers can purchase. The product includes a springform pan along with ingredients to make an actual cheesecake.
