Anheuser-Busch and Post Partner for Earth-Saving Snacks

April 22, 2021
Subsidiaries EverGrain and Bright Future Foods will develop Earth-saving snacks with breweries' spent barley.

Today is Earth Day, and subsidiaries of Anheuser-Busch InBev and Post Holdings are celebrating by collaborating on snack products made with Anheuser-Busch's used grain.

EverGrain LLC is the AB unit created in 2020 to find uses for the breweries' spent but still nutritional barley. Bright Future Foods is an incubator created by Post Holdings Inc. "charged with identifying new technologies, business models and trends that have the potential to disrupt the food and beverage industry."

There are no products identified yet, but the two announced their collaboration today, which apparently will focus on using spent barley in snack products. Or as they put it, "to create new sustainable and climate-positive food solutions."

Bright Future Foods recently introduced its first product, Airly crackers. "Each box of Airly crackers sold will remove greenhouse gases from the air with the unique oat supply and carbon credit offsets," the company said.

EverGrain has offered its barley protein and fiber ingredients to all food processors. Both Anheuser-Busch and Post are headquartered in the St. Louis area.
