Beyond Meat has made deals with McDonald’s Corp. and Yum Brands that will presumably bring its plant-based meat analogue products to a wider audience.

Beyond announced Jan. 25 that it will become the exclusive supplier of analogue meats to McDonald’s. Beyond Meat patties had previously been test-marketed in Canada, then in the U.S.

In a separate deal, Beyond Meat will develop plant-based menu items for Yum restaurants, which include Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC. Pizza Hut started serving pizza with analogue sausage crumbles from Beyond Meat last fall.

Beyond is hoping that the new deals will revive its business, which took a big hit when the pandemic led consumers to avoid restaurants. The company reported a $25.1 million loss for the fourth quarter.
