Impossible Foods has rolled out plant-based analogue chicken nuggets, its newest product, at restaurants and is about to introduce them to retail.
The nuggets are being sold by restaurant chains including Fuku, Fatburger and Dog Haus. They will be carried by the end of September by retailers including Walmart, Kroger and Albertsons.
Impossible Foods says that its nuggets have 40% less saturated fat and 25% less sodium than a conventional chicken nugget. The Impossible Nuggets do not have heme, the unique ingredient from bioengineered yeast that gives the Impossible Burger its distinctive juiciness. The European Union and China have banned Impossible products from import over concerns about heme.
Impossible has greatly decreased its turnaround time to market since investing in R&D capacity and reaching a co-manufacturing agreement with OSI Group. Speculation is that the company will go public in the next 12 months.
