The snack manufacturer announced November 2 it was acquiring the family-owned artisan maker of organic tortilla chips.

Utz Brands, known for its brand of salty snacks, announced on November 2 it was acquiring RW Garcia, a family-owned maker of organic tortilla chips. The acquisition, for which Utz is paying $56 million, gives Utz additional production capacity in Nevada and North Carolina, where RW Garcia have manufacturing facilities.

Earlier this year, Utz announced it had acquired of Festida Foods out of Michigan, thereby broadening its production capabilities in the North, East, and West United States.

“We expect this strategic acquisition will enable strong supply chain synergies, enhance our ability to expand distribution of our existing brands, and supplement our better-for-you product portfolio,” said Dylan Lissette, Chief Executive Officer of Utz.

In 2021, Utz ranked No. 96 in the Food Processing list of the Top 100 Food and Beverage Companies in the U.S.
