PepsiCo has announced plans to build its biggest U.S. beverage plant in Denver, acquiring 152 acres of land for that purpose.

The 1.2 million-sq.-ft. plant will have three times the capacity of PepsiCo’s current facility in Denver. The plant, which is expected to come on line next year, will produce products including Pepsi, Pepsi Zero, Gatorade, bubly, Rockstar, Propel and Muscle Milk. A cost estimate was not provided.

The new plant will double that current one’s payroll of 250 jobs, with the current workforce retained and “upskilled as needed to operate the innovative manufacturing equipment,” according to a company release.

The new facility “will aim to achieve 100% renewable electricity, best-in-class water efficiency, and reduced virgin plastic use,” the release says.
