Kraft Heinz is forging a partnership with a food tech company to produce a range of plant-based alternative protein products.

The partner is TheNotCompany (NotCo), a producer of alternative meat, milk and other products. Based in Chile, NotCo is sometimes referred to as the Impossible Foods of Latin America. The partnership will be called The Kraft Heinz Not Company LLC and will be headed by Lucho Lopez-May, who is currently NotCo’s CEO for North America.

NotCo’s products include NotMilk, NotBurger, NotMeat, NotIceCream, NotChicken and NotMayo. NotMilk is sold in the U.S.; the other products are available so far only in Latin America. NotCo received a patent last year for an artificial-intelligence application that can incorporate massive amounts of data about ingredients and processes to suggest formulations.

“We believe the technology that NotCo brings is revolutionizing the creation of delicious plant-based foods with simpler ingredients,” Kraft Heinz CEO Miguel Patricio said in a statement.

The new company will be headquartered in Chicago, with a research facility in San Francisco.
