Chicken of the Sea International has hired an executive away from rival Starkist to serve in the new position of executive vice president, commercial.

Andy Mecs will oversee sales, marketing and supply chain operations, and will report directly to Bryan Rosenberg, CEO of Thai Union North America (TUNA), Chicken of the Sea’s parent.

Mecs spent most of his career at StarKist, where he rose through the ranks to become vice president of marketing and innovation. He has a bachelor’s in business and philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh, and law and business degrees from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business.

“Andy has more than 17 years of experience in CPG with the vast majority of his experience all within the seafood sector. His outstanding accomplishments on the commercial side of the business are well documented,” Rosenberg said in a statement.
