KFC is launching another test of plant-based analogue fried chicken, this time in Southern California, with an eye toward making it part of the chain’s permanent menu.
About 50 restaurants in Los Angeles, San Diego and Orange County will test the product, from Beyond Meat, starting the week of July 19. Sold in a green-and-white bucket with the name “Beyond Fried Chicken,” it will be test-marketed while supplies last.
This will be the third test for KFC and Beyond Meat. The first was at a single restaurant in suburban Atlanta last summer, followed by tests in Nashville and Charlotte in the winter.
