Sonoma Brands Makes Second Jerky Buy: Chef’s Cut Real Jerky

Jon Sebastiani-led private equity firm builds its portfolio in the premium meat snacking space.

Sonoma Brands, a private equity investor and incubator that just bought Krave jerky back from Hershey Co., announces a second jerky acquisition: Chef’s Cut Real Jerky Co.

Chef’s Cut was founded in 2009 and makes jerky, meat sticks and biltong. Under Sonoma Brands, Chef’s Cut will continue to develop alongside Krave as part of a portfolio brands in the premium meat snacking space.

Price of the acquisition was not disclosed.

Sonoma Brands is led by Jon Sebastiani, a member of the Sebastiani wine-making family, who created Krave but sold it to Hershey in 2015. He has since become a serial entrepreneur specializing in upstart food companies.
