As part of the celebration of the program’s 10th anniversary, Stampede Meat Inc. will expand its proprietary Butcher Certification Program to its Sunland Park, N.M., facility, according to an announcement distributed by the Bridgeview, Ill., value-added, sous vide and protein processing company.
Stampede will enter into a partnership with New Mexico State University to leverage the school’s state-of-the-art facilities and educators to expand the certification program, which was founded in Bridgeview in 2013. Every Stampede employee, regardless of their role or experience, can take advantage of the Butcher Certification Program, the company says.
Stampede invested in the program 10 years ago to demonstrate its commitment to career development of its employee family as well as its customers and consumers.
Stampede president and CEO Brock Furlong believes more than 500 employees could earn their Butcher Certifications in the next three years as a result of this expansion to Sunland Park. The first class of Sunland Park trainees graduated from the expanded program last month, the company says, and Stampede has plans in place to continue to implement the program in its other facilities across North America.
The partnership between Stampede and New Mexico State University (NMSU) was facilitated in part by Rural Partners Network (RPN), an alliance of federal agencies and commissions that helps rural people build prosperity through job creation, infrastructure development and community improvement.
