Sargento Foods has reached an agreement to acquire Baker Cheese Factory Inc., a Wisconsin company that specializes in string cheese.

Sargento Foods has reached an agreement to acquire Baker Cheese Factory Inc., a family-owned Wisconsin company that specializes in mozzarella string cheese.

Baker, based in St. Cloud, Wis., has about 250 employees, none of whom will be displaced as a result of the acquisition, Sargento says. Baker string cheese is sold in all 50 states. Both companies are privately held, and terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

“We believe Sargento has the right culture, capabilities, and commitment to innovation to grow our business for generations to come,” Brian Baker, CEO of Baker Cheese, said in a statement. “Our award-winning string cheese and commitment to service and quality aligns with everything Sargento seeks to accomplish. We welcome this important step toward our future.”
