As consumers stress over avian influenza and its impact on egg prices, Pete & Gerry’s Organics LLC (PGO), a specialty egg company, has purchased Pasture Brands Holdings, a better-for-you food platform focused on store-perimeter refrigerated products, according to a release from seller Brown Gibbons Lang & Co. an independent investment bank and financial advisory firm that advised owner Benford Capital Partners (BCP) on the deal.
BCP formed Pasture Brands upon the acquisition of Farmers Hen House (FHH) in December 2021 in pursuit of natural, fresh and refrigerated foods and beverages, and its brands carry a diverse set of products.
Pasture Brands markets and distributes the Farmers Hen House and Pillars brands. FHH sources, processes and packages branded and private-label organic, free-range and pasture-raised eggs for grocery and club channel customers. It was founded in 1997 and is based in Kalona, Iowa. Pillars was launched in 2016 to bring retail customers clean-label drinkable yogurt.
The two brands will join the Pete & Gerry’s and Nellie’s Free Range brands under PGO’s leadership. FHH brings an additional packing facility to the company in the deal, expanding PGO’s overall processing capacity, flexibility and efficiency.
