Kroger’s Tamarack Farms Dairy $77 Million Expansion Opens
Kroger has finished a multiyear expansion of its Tamarack Farms Dairy processing facility in Newark, Ohio, adding about 40,000 sq. ft. and a new aseptic milk production line to the plant, according to a local news report.
The expansion was first reported by this same local news outlet in 2022, and it is expected to increase production efficiency and help the company better meet consumer demand. The new processing system will ensure quality, consistency and safety, and a new filler that was installed can handle 450 bottles per minute.
Kroger told the news outlet that the production of creamers, half-and-half and heavy whipping cream would be most impacted by the expansion. The aseptic milk line is reportedly Kroger’s first in the Midwest. A company spokesperson added that the expansion will bring 20 new jobs to the facility and cost about $77 million, with products expected to hit store shelves in April.
Tamarack Farms Dairy was initially built in 1978 and supports some 160 Kroger stores in Ohio and West Virginia.
