Riviana Foods is investing $80.6 million to expand its plant in Memphis, Tenn.

It will be the seventh expansion project since the facility opened in 2006. This project will add 65,000 sq. ft. to the plant and renovate another 20,000. The goal is to add production capacity for Minute rice microwaveable cups and add new capacity for ready-to-serve pouches of Tilda, Carolina and Mahatma-brand rice.

The project will add about 80 new jobs. Work is expected to begin early next year, with new production capacity coming online in the first quarter of 2024.

"We will be in a stronger position to meet or exceed customer needs of looking for simpler, better and more nutritional food options," Riviana CEO Enrique Zaragoza said in a statement. "And we look forward to many more years of our successful partnership between Riviana and the Memphis community with this investment."
