Shucking Upset: Corn Takes Top Spot as ‘America’s Favorite Vegetable’
B&G Foods’ Green Giant brand surveyed 5,100 Americans to determine consumers' favorite vegetable in each state, in order to celebrate National Eat Your Vegetables Day (which is tomorrow, Saturday, June 17).
Key survey findings, which Green Giant shared in a news release, include:
- Consumers in 32 states chose corn as their favorite veggie. Broccoli finished in second place, with green beans, spinach, carrots and brussels sprouts rounding out the top six.
- Iowans apparently love growing corn, but broccoli still ranks as the favorite among consumers surveyed in that state.
- Broccoli remains a “flavor dynasty” and contender, the survey says. Even though corn pushed it out of the top spot, more than 33% of Americans surveyed found broccoli to be the tastiest veggie.
