Novato, Calif.-based The Republic of Tea introduces Be Well Red Teas, nine wellness herb teas based on organic, South African rooibos plus selected botanicals. Although the teas are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, each blend is tailored to specific needs: clear skin, regularity, energy, PMS/menopause, rest, weight control, detoxification, scratchy throat and digestion. Rooibos, or Red Tea, a naturally caffeine-free, anti-allergenic herb, is recognized for remarkable antioxidant properties and aid to the immune system. Varieties include: Herb Tea for Clear Skin -- with chamomile (rich in anti-inflammatory azulene), orange peel, hibiscus, chaste berry and burdock root; Herb Tea for Regularity -- with senna leaf, ginger, anise, honey and lemon myrtle; Herb Tea for Energy -- with Siberian ginseng, ashwaganda root (the ginseng of India), Panax ginseng root, blueberries and gotu kola leaf; Herb Tea for PMS/Menopause -- with chaste berry, black cohosh, dong quai, parsley, chicory root and natural honey; Herb Tea for Rest -- with chamomile, passionflower and valerian root extract; Herb Tea for Weight Control -- with carob, cinnamon, banaba extract and gymnema leaves (all shown to reduce insulin resistance by helping cells take in blood sugar), known for their blood sugar balancing abilities. Gymnema has the added benefit of reducing the absorption of carbohydrates and may even reduce sweet cravings by interfering with the ability of taste buds to register sweetness; Herb Tea for Detoxing -- with milk thistle, dandelion, burdock, chicory root, Indian sarsaparilla and red clover; Herb Tea for Scratchy Throats -- with marshmallow root, licorice root, ginger, sage root and lemon myrtle; Herb Tea for Digestion -- with cinnamon, anise and peppermint.
Suggested retail price is $9.50 for a 1.65-oz. tin containing 36 tea bags.
