At-Home Craft Ramen with Authentic Japanese Flavors

Recognizing the growing popularity of Asian noodle dishes, Zenb, a division of Mizkan, is rolling out Zenb Ramen. Each pouch of the gluten-free, vegan ramen contains non-fried noodles and a packet of savory, umami-packed soup broth. Like the brand’s other pastas, the ramen is a single-ingredient noodle made from 100% whole yellow peas. The ramen maintains a characteristic chewy, springy texture that is key to an elevated, restaurant-quality ramen experience, according to the company.

One serving provides 18g of protein and 11g of fiber. The three varieties are Shoyu (tamari soy sauce with notes of ginger and warming white pepper), Spicy Miso (miso with a blend of chilies for a kick of fiery heat) and Tonkotsu (nutty toasted sesame and roasted garlic).

“Our name comes from the Japanese concept ‘zenbu,’ which means whole, and our whole food approach is on full display with Zenb Ramen,” said Hugo Pérez, chief storyteller at Zenb. “With a growing interest in Asian cuisine and as consumers continue to seek simplicity and convenience from their foods, we tapped our deep understanding of flavor and food ingredients to fashion a refined ramen that embodies the cultural influence of Japan with the added nutritional benefits Zenb is known for.”

Consumers can now enjoy dry-rubbed chicken wings without placing an order. Fully cooked Tyson Restaurant Style Crispy Wings from Tyson Foods Inc. go from freezer to air fryer and provide a culinary experience that contends with leading restaurant wings. They boast a crispy exterior that gives way to tender, juicy meat.

The new product comes in three varieties: Caribbean, Garlic Parmesan and Rotisserie Seasoned. One serving provides 15-16g of protein. A 1-lb. bag contains about 3.5 servings and retails for $8.99.

The company also launched new Tyson Honey Chicken Bites. Crafted from tender, all-white meat chicken and covered in a honey-infused breading, one serving provides 14g of protein. They may be baked in the oven or crisped in an air fryer and are ready in less than 25 minutes. Each 24 oz. bag contains eight servings.

It’Sugar, one of the largest specialty candy retailers in North America, with more than 120 locations in the U.S. and Canada, is launching private-label Sour Patch Kids Blue Raspberry and Swedish Fish Flavored Sodas. Developed in partnership with Mondelez International, these carbonated soft drinks capture the authentic flavors of the fruity candies. The sodas come in 12-oz. glass bottles and have a suggested retail price of $4.99.

“We are ecstatic to bring the iconic flavors of Sour Patch Kids and Swedish Fish to life in a refreshing new way,” said Chris Lindstedt, vice president of merchandising at It’Sugar. “Our continued partnership with Mondelez has ensured that these sodas are as true to the original candy flavors as possible.”

Bimbo Bakeries USA introduces Sara Lee Artesano Hawaiian Bakery Bread and Hawaiian Bakery Buns. The sliced baked goods have a subtle sweet taste with a tropical twist.

Baked without artificial flavors and preservatives and no high fructose corn syrup, these new additions to the Artesano portfolio offer an indulgent flavor and bring a gourmet restaurant experience straight to the consumer’s home during a time when rising out-of-home food prices have more consumers creating flavor adventure in their own kitchens. The 20-oz. loaves sell for $4.59, while the 19-oz. pack of eight buns sells for $4.49. The products made their debut in May in the Southeast U.S.

The frozen pizza category has been on fire since the early days of the pandemic. Valued at approximately $7.5 billion, according to Circana data, brands continue to get creative in this space with new flavor combinations and crusts.

Nestlé USA owns multiple frozen pizza brands and has been very active with innovation. New concepts include Tombstone Tavern-Style Pizza, which features the brand’s signature zesty tomato sauce on a thin, buttery crust. The Primo is loaded with pepperoni, sausage, banana peppers, red onion and mozzarella cheese. Let’s Meat Up is piled high with pepperoni, pork belly crumble and cheddar and mozzarella cheeses.

The original Tombstone crust adds two “Bold, Full on Flavor” varieties. Chipotle Chicken features white meat chicken, chipotle sauce and cheddar and mozzarella cheese. Spicy Italian is made with Italian sausage, pepperoni, mozzarella cheese and red pepper flakes. There’s also new Digiorno Thin & Crispy Stuffed Crust Pizza. Varieties are margherita, pepperoni and pepperoni sausage.

Specialty Cheeses Get Made into Dips

Emmi Roth is rolling out Roth Cheese Dips & Spreads. Buffalo Ranch starts with a base of buffalo ranch gouda cheese, while Buttery Garlic & Herb is made with real butter and cheese for a creamy texture paired with a savory herb taste.

Caramelized Onion uses award-winning Roth Grand Cru cheese for a creamy texture with a savory sweet taste. Chunky Blue Cheese combines Havarti and blue cheese for a bold, sophisticated taste and heat is what you get with Jalapeno Havarti. It’s made with award-winning creamy Roth Jalapeno Havarti laced with pickled jalapenos. The spreads come in 8-oz. retail packs and are available in larger-sized options for foodservice.
