Singer Cher Launches Her Own Line of Gelato

July 25, 2023
Cherlato apparently only will be available on “the streets of LA”; let the puns begin!

Singer Cher has announced in an Instagram post that she will be launching her own line of gelato, under the brand name Cherlato.

Let the puns begin! See the final paragraph for a challenge to create the best (and worst) puns regarding this launch.

People magazine wrote that the 77-year-old singer posted a short video showing off a bright orange and pink ice cream truck featuring black and white photos of herself enjoying a cone. “Yep, this is real… I’m launching my gelato,” she wrote. “Watch out LA,” she teased before signing off that there’s “more to come.”

Apparently the ice cream is destined only for Los Angeles. In a later post, she wrote, “Delivering the freshest, most delectable gelato creations to the streets of Los Angeles. Created by Giapo, Curated by Cher.”

In the earlier post, she explained her interest started five years ago, when she first met New Zealand-based ice cream company Giapo, known for making ice creams in a gluten-free facility.

“A few years ago, Cher met Giapo and together, the pair brainstormed, taste-tested, experimented and eventually conceived Cherlato,” reads the caption showing off a cup full of gelato sprinkled with toppings, according to People.

The ice cream also will focus on local ingredients. “We’ve partnered with local farmers and artisans who share our passion for quality and sustainability,” according to another post cited by People.

Do you believe in clove(?). C’mon, the pun possibilities are numerous. Email your best shot to [email protected], put “Cherlato” in the subject line, and we’ll post the best ones on Monday (7/31).
