Wild Fox Foods Is Next Venture From Founders of Kevin’s Natural Foods
The founders of Kevin’s Natural Foods, who sold the company in mid-2023 to Mars, have founded a new company focusing on “healthy” snacks, apparently with the common thread of roasted nuts. They’re also latching onto the current backlash against seed oils.
Wild Fox Foods is just getting underway, having given the world a peek at last month’s Natural Products Expo West. Dan Costa, Kelsie Costa-Olson and Kevin McCray are the same trio that created Kevin’s Natural Foods, which provided healthy, clean and delicious meals ready in five minutes.
For this next venture, they take issue with the traditional “roasting” process of nuts, which they say is deep frying nuts in harmful seed oils over and over – or using no oil at all, which they say lacks flavor. Their nuts start with an oil-free roast, followed by a light coating of healthy avocado oil to bring back the crunch and coat on the all-natural flavor.
This summer, they should be rolling out three initial products: roasted nuts (cashews and almonds), snack mixes (roasted almonds and cashews paired with dried fruits) and protein bars (milk protein isolate crisps, bound with good fats like nut butter and coconut oil, and sweetened with monk fruit and a touch of coconut sugar). Each bar has 15g of protein, 3g of sugar and less than 6g of net carbs.
