Rollout: Celebrating the United States of America’s Semiquincentennial Anniversary
Semiquincentennial is a mouthful, but a big celebration deserves a big word. We haven’t hit a national milestone birthday since 1976. Food & beverage product developers (and their marketers) rose to this rare occasion, producing novel products and packaging to celebrate America’s 250th birthday this July 4. Below is just our first batch; more to come as we near July 4.
Stars & Stripes Everywhere
As a company that has shaped the nation’s culinary landscape for generations, General Mills is serving up even more ways to celebrate this summer – from morning until the last firework lights up the sky -- with 79 limited-edition products inspired by America’s 250th birthday. The lineup pairs nostalgic flavors with red, white and blue-inspired twists.
Some of the limited-edition offerings include Pillsbury Toaster Strudel Stars & Stripes, Pillsbury Grands! S’mores Cinnamon Rolls, Birthday Cake Cheerios, Fruit Roll-Ups Star-Spangled Cherry, Fruit by the Foot Splitz Star-Spangled Strawberry and Berry Blast, Betty Crocker America’s Birthday Cake Soft Baked Cookie Mix, and Pillsbury Ready-to-Bake! Red, White and Blue Cookie Dough. These and other limited-edition offerings across General Mills’ brands like Annie’s, Progresso, Gushers, Totino’s, Nature Valley and more, are available at various nationwide retailers while supplies last.
“For 160 years, General Mills has been a cornerstone of American pantries, with our brands in over 90% of households across the country,” says Courtney Hamacher, vice president and interim chief creative and marketing excellence officer. “As America celebrates its 250th birthday, we’re incredibly proud to help families add joy to the table, celebrating the moments, big and small, that matter most.”
Patriotic Bling Pop
Ring Pop is putting a patriotic twist on its iconic candy ring just in time for summer celebrations. Part candy and part accessory, this seasonal drop leans all the way into that playful energy with bold colors, nostalgic flavor and serious summer party potential. Launching for a limited time at national retailers, the Red, White and Bling Ring Pop combines fan-favorite red cherry and blue raspberry flavors.
Red, White & Water
Hint’s new Star Spangled Variety Pack helps celebrate summer with flavored water. This seasonal collection was inspired by nostalgic frozen treats and reimagined through Hint’s flavor-first approach to hydration. The launch builds on Hint’s recently unveiled “Water for People with Tastebuds” platform, which is rooted in the belief that hydration should feel craveable, flavorful and easy to enjoy.
The still waters are infused with fruit essences and made without sugar, sweeteners or calories. The Star Spangled Variety Pack embraces the spirit of “Red, White & Water” with bold, playful visuals that treat flavor like the main character of summer. The returning seasonal lineup includes Cherry Berry Burst, Lemon Zest Freeze, Orange Vanilla Swirl and Rainbow Sherbert Ice Pop.
Star Pretzels Made in Philadelphia
J&J Snack Foods Corp. is marking the country’s milestone with a snack that’s patriotic from the freezer to the fork. Superpretzel Star-Shaped Soft Pretzel is a limited-time offering crafted in the shape of America’s most iconic symbol: the classic five-pointed star.
While the celebration is national, the roots are local. Each star-shaped pretzel is produced in the Philadelphia area, where the nation’s founding began. This regional heritage makes the Star Pretzel more than a seasonal novelty. It is a snack with history baked in, according to the company. The suggested retail price is $10.59 per 15-count box.
Patriotic Popping Snack Mix
The Fireworks Cranberry Mix from Ocean Spray is a blend of dried cranberries — Craisins — mixed with white and blue popping candy clusters. The candies were designed to resemble fireworks. While the package touts that the snack mix is free of artificial flavors, preservatives and sweeteners, it does rely on artificial blue. A 30g serving contains 120 calories. The product is exclusive to Sam’s Club where a 20-oz. bag sells for $11.98.
American Dairy and Blueberry Farmers Collaborate
Chobani continues to build up its Flavor Drops concept, which is all about bold, limited-edition, single-batch creamers designed to make every sip special. Each drop is a one-time release crafted to spark curiosity, conversation and creativity, bringing something unique to the morning cup or afternoon pick-me-up.
For summer 2026, Flavor Drops comes in American Blueberry, which is made with five simple ingredients: milk, cream, cane sugar, natural flavors and blueberry juice concentrate. Packages state that it’s made with “homegrown blueberries blended with fresh milk and cream from American dairy farmers.”
