Bimbo Bakeries USA has announced that its Arnold Bread brand has launched what it claims to be North America’s first bread bag that uses 30% post-consumer recycled content, produced from FDA-compliant PCR resins, which will be used across the brand’s organic product line.
The new packaging is certified and independently verified by SCS Global Services, and it reduces the use of fossil fuels to create the packaging, lowering the company’s carbon footprint compared to the prior bags.
The company relays that the new bags are the latest sustainability development by Arnold and Bimbo Bakeries USA, which was named an Energy Star Partner of the Year, matching 100% of its electricity usage in U.S. operations with renewable wind energy. It also achieved certification for superior energy efficiency at 18 Bimbo Bakeries USA facilities.
