Grupo Bimbo Breaks World Record for Largest Baked Goods Donation

Grupo Bimbo, the parent company to 2020 Green Plant of the Year Bimbo Bakeries, recently achieved a world record for the largest donation of bakery goods through its annual Global Energy Race.
The race, which was in its fifth year in 2020, was established by the Mexico City, Mexico-bakery brand as a commitment to "its purpose to be a sustainable, highly productive and fully humane company."
This year, Grupo Bimbo donated 20 slices of bread, per participant, to local food banks. With 300,019 participants—a record number—all across the globe taking part, a record amount of bread was able to be donated. The 6,000,380 slices of bread, which amounts to more than 52,000 pounds, also broke the Guinness World Record for the largest bakery donation in the world.
