Bimbo Bakeries USA to Close Aging Albuquerque, New Mexico, Facility

Jan. 18, 2024
The plant has experienced a volume loss recently and will be shuttered by mid-April of this year, the company told a local news outlet.

Bimbo Bakeries USA has announced it will close its Albuquerque, N.M., bakery by mid-April 2024, according to a local news report. The company sent a statement to the news outlet, saying the plant has 149 workers currently, and that production of the bread and buns would be shifted to other plants in the Bimbo Bakeries USA network.

Bimbo Bakeries said the facility had experienced a recent volume loss and had aged to the point of being unable to keep up with the company’s growth plans.

At the time the story was published, the report noted that the company had yet to meet with the employees and union representatives to discuss severance and the availability of resources to help them through the transition.
