Hearthside Food Solutions will close its Nashville, Tenn., bakery, resulting in the layoff of nearly 230 employees this summer, according to several news reports and an official WARN Notice filed with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

The facility will close permanently on July 15, and the layoffs will also be permanent, the company said.

Hearthside acquired the facility along with Nashville-based Standard Functional Food Group in 2017 from then-parent company Standard Candy Co. At the time of Hearthside’s acquisition, Standard Functional was a contract manufacturer of organic, meal-replacement and sports nutrition snack bars.

Hearthside, which is based in Downers Grove, Ill., produces bars, cookies, crackers, granola and snacks in more than two dozen food-processing facilities.

In April of this year, it sold off its Jacksonville, Fla., ready-to-cook and ready-to-heat manufacturing assets to Custom Made Meals LLC.
