Nestlé will build a $675 million plant in Arizona dedicated to coffee creamers, the company has announced.

The 630,000-sq.-ft. facility will produce Coffee Mate and Starbucks-branded non-dairy creamers, with the capacity to include more products in the future. The plant is scheduled to open in 2024.

The Arizona site was chosen in part because of its proximity to Western markets, the company said in a statement.

"Beverages play an increasingly important role in the lives of consumers, a trend that's been accelerated by the pandemic and is expected to continue to grow,” Daniel Jhung, President of Beverage, Nestlé USA, said in the statement. “This investment illustrates our continued commitment to leading and growing categories where we play, providing consumers with a variety of high-quality, innovative products to meet their needs."

The plant will feature sustainability initiatives, including water recycling, no landfilled waste, and packaging that’s both recycled and fully recyclable.
