BlueTriton Brands, formerly known as Nestlé Waters North America, has tapped as its new CEO the man who helped introduce Swiffer and Febreze to the world.
Jorge Mesquita, a veteran CPG executive, will replace C. Dean Metropoulos, board chairman and interim CEO. Mesquita’s previous position had been worldwide chairman of Johnson & Johnson’s consumer division. Prior to that, he was with Procter & Gamble for nearly 30 years. He headed different divisions of the company as they rolled out innovative products in the home care space including Tide Pods, Swiffer cleaning products and Febreze fabric scent.
“The water category is primed for growth and innovation as more consumers seek healthy hydration alternatives to sugary drinks,” Mesquita said in a statement. “With an exceptional portfolio of beloved brands, BlueTriton is well-positioned to capitalize on this tremendous market opportunity.”
BlueTriton spun off from Nestlé Waters in March, bought by a partnership between Metropoulos and One Rock Capital Partners. Their brands of bottled water include Ice Mountain, Poland Spring and Arrowhead.
