After Extending Operations, Keurig Dr Pepper Will Close Windsor, Virginia, Facility
In July 2024, Keurig Dr Pepper announced it would close its Windsor, Va., coffee roasting plant — however, the plant appeared to receive a reprieve in the wake of Hurricane Helene’s September path of destruction up the Eastern Seaboard.
That respite has expired, and the Windsor plant will cease operations on April 30, according to local news reports citing the county economic development offices. The 330,000-sq.-ft. facility had been in operation since 2012 and was slated for shutdown at the end of 2024.
One local news report said that products shipped from the plant to Tennessee were damaged by storms rolling through in the remnants of Hurricane Helene in September, after which KDP extended operations into the first quarter of 2025. Worth noting, the company cited “evolving supply chain needs” as the reason for the extension, and did not confirm any specifics around hurricane damage to products, facilities or otherwise.
The company owns the land and building, and confirmed to the news outlet that it plans to sell the property, though a timetable was not shared. Production from the Windsor plant is still expected to shift over to KDP’s Spartanburg, S.C., facility.
