Biden Slams Kellogg Over Strike Replacements
President Biden has issued a statement rebuking Kellogg Co. for its intention of permanently replacing striking workers.
In a statement issued Dec. 10, Biden said that he is “deeply troubled” by Kellogg’s approach and thinks it should be illegal.
“Permanently replacing striking workers is an existential attack on the union and its members’ jobs and livelihoods,” the statement reads. “I have long opposed permanent striker replacements and I strongly support legislation that would ban that practice.”
Workers at all four of Kellogg’s U.S. RTE cereal plants have been on strike since early October. Kellogg has declared its intention to permanently replace them in the wake of their rejection last week of a proposed contract.
