Haribo Opens its First North American Gummi Processing Plant; Unveils New Goldbears Variety
The plant was built to meet growing demand from U.S. consumers, and it will focus on producing Haribo’s Goldbears product, the company said. Nearly 200 employees will produce hundreds of tons of Goldbears over 500,000 square feet of floorspace — with plans to expand in the near future.
Pleasant Prairie is Haribo’s 16th production facility in 11 countries — in which the company produces more than 160 million Goldbears every day, the company says. Future expansion at the facility is expected to include new technology and production capacity, and provide hundreds of new jobs.
In conjunction with the announcement of the opening of Pleasant Prairie, Haribo has also unveiled its newest gummi treat: Wild Berry Goldbears. The new variety uses the same Goldbears shapes with new berry flavors including blueberry, wild cherry, strawberry, raspberry and “Wildberry.”
