Maker of Godiva, Turtles, Flipz, to Close Mohnton, Pennsylvania, Processing Plant
According to local reports citing a WARN notice filed with the Pennsylvania Dept. of Labor, snack and candy processor Pladis North America Inc. will close its Mohnton, Pa., processing plant on May 29, 2025. The company said in a statement that 60 employees work at the facility.
Pladis North America is a division of Pladis, which owns the Godiva, Flipz and Turtles brands. It was formed in 2016 by parent company Yildiz Holding to combine all its baked and confectionery brands in 11 countries. Some of the company’s British biscuit brands date back to 1831.
The company told local news outlets that employees in Mohnton were informed of the plan to shutter the facility in June 2024, but the company had not set a closure date until this week. It added that closing the Mohnton facility allows the company to focus resources on the Godiva plant in nearby Reading, Pa., as well as the Pladis North America plant in Big Flats, N.Y. The Reading plant employs more than 200 people, and Pladis reiterated its commitment to that facility.
