The Campbell’s Co. has joined the parade of food and beverage companies announcing their plans to eliminate artificial colors originally approved by the U.S. Food, Drug, and Cosmetic (FD&C) Act in certain products in its portfolio.

The company noted that use of FD&C colors was limited in its overall food and beverage portfolio, it would transition out the use of those ingredients in remaining products by the second half of its 2026 fiscal year (March-August).

Specifically, Campbell’s noted that Lance crackers and V8 Splash would begin using colors derived from natural sources like annatto and purple carrot juice concentrate, while Jay’s, O-Ke-Doke, Tom’s, Archway and Stella D’oro branded products would also eliminate FD&C colors from their formulations.

It offered Goldfish crackers as one of its brands that has successfully switched, with the little fish crackers having used plant-sourced colors, such as a mix of beet juice concentrate and paprika for red Goldfish, for more than 15 years.

Campbell’s is just the latest company to announce the change in the last few months, with Rise Baking Co. being the most recent — which we just reported a day ago.
