Complement to Rosina's Italian frozen products.

Rosina Food Products, Buffalo, N.Y., bought the Mama Lucia brand of frozen retail meatballs from Quaker Maid Meats. The Mama Lucia brand is found predominantly in the Northeast, Southeast and Midwest of the U.S., in supermarkets, military commissaries and dollar stores.

"This acquisition is consistent with the company’s strategic plan for growth, and the products are consistent with our core capabilities,” said Russell Corigliano, President and CEO of Rosina Food Products. Price was not disclosed.

The Mama Lucia Brand "is an excellent complement" to the Rosina, Celentano and Italian Village brands of frozen, mostly Italian, products, the acquirer said. In addition to its current production facility in Cheektowaga, N.Y., Rosina has a new, plant scheduled to open in December in nearby West Seneca, N.Y.
